This trio from Quebec City activates their exhibition space with performances, improvisations in sound, and staged happenings. Through musical wanderings throughout Victoriaville and the crafting of objects and costumes, they create a theatrical universe asserted through performance and experimentation. Their site, home to live interventions, fragments of video, objects, instruments, photos, and texts, will amount to a multivalenced theatre this is at once real and fictional.
About the Artist
MMV2005 is a collective comprising Mathieu Lef Bouchard, Mathieu P. Lapierre, and Vincent Thériault. Their practice combines sound art, conceptual art, performance, and sculpture. Their multi-disciplinary work is a vast experimental laboratory that is at once playful, pragmatic, intuitive, and experimental. Their work is nourished by improvisation and engagement with new technologies, and their critical engagement demonstrates their interest in the abstract and sublime character of art and existence.
Their work has been presented at various festivals and events in Quebec and outside the major centres. The trio has roughly twenty albums, a film, a ‘mystery band,’ and a solo exhibition. They live and work in Quebec City.
