FIMAV has a long and illustrious history presenting the much-loved Dutch experimental punk group, The Ex. That group’s membership has changed over the years, and while its founding frontman and lyric-writer, G.W. SOK, left in 2008, he remains a powerful and creative voice all these years later. This brand-new collaboration pairs SOK with the electro-rock improvisation duo of LUKAS SIMONIS (guitar) and GERT-JAN PRINS (drums & electronics). Their 2021 recording Mothers of Exit features “Animalistic high metal grooves, a collaboration of these two veterans of improvised weirdness [that] was bound to happen sometime!” SOK’s vocals incorporate not only punk intensity, but also theatrical and poetic elements that have been part of his artistic signature going back decades. BAZIP ZEEHOK’s debut record, In de sloop der tijd, was released in September 2023, announcing a new, vital element in the long and celebrated history of Dutch anarcho-punk improvised music.
